Frequently Asked Questions

What comes with my HMT-1® device? 

  • (1) HMT-1 device
  • (1) Workband
  • (1) USB Type-C Charging Cable (you will need a regional wall charger) 


How do I know that my HMT-1® is charging properly?

The power button LED light will blink throughout the charging cycle, changing color from red to green.

If you do not see this progression:

  1. Test your power outlet with a different device.
  2. Test your regional wall charger with a different device to make sure that it is operating properly.
  3. If both your outlet and wall charger are functioning properly, but your device will not charge, please contact our Customer Support team.

 

My HMT-1® won’t turn on.

Before your first use, make sure to fully charge the device using the power cable provided. The power light will turn green once the device is fully charged.

After the device is fully charged, press the power button for 10 seconds to turn on the device. Listen for the audible feedback. If you do not hear this feedback, and the device is fully charged, please contact our Customer Support team.

 

Where can I find the Realwear Companion App?

Download the RealWear Companion app to your smartphone (iOS or Android) using the QR Code provided or through your smartphone app library.

My HMT-1® won’t connect to my Wi-Fi.

Select from the following options to reconfigure your device.

 

Web Configuration Tool:

  1. Launch a web browser and go to: realwear.setupmyhmt.com.
  2. Click CONFIGURATION.

 

FIRST TIME SETUP will allow you to set a language, date and time, and input Wi-Fi credentials.

  1. Select your language.
  2. Set Date & Time.
  3. Select Wireless Network Setup.
  4. Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network.
  5. Select your security type.
  6. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
  7. Click GENERATE CODE.
  8. Scan the generated code with your RealWear HMT-1 device.

If entered correctly, your RealWear HMT-1® device will be connected to Wi-Fi.

 

RealWear Companion App:

  1. Download the RealWear Companion app to your smartphone (iOS or Android) using the QR Code provided on this page or through your smartphone app library.
  2. Launch the app and click CONFIGURATION.
  3. Click on WIRELESS NETWORK SETUP.
  4. Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network.
  5. Select your security type.
  6. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
  7. Click GENERATE CODE.
  8. Scan the generated code with the HMT-1® device.
  9. On the HMT-1®, launch the CONFIGURATION app from the MY PROGRAMS screen.
  10. Use the HMT-1® to scan the code from the RealWear Companion app.

If entered correctly, your RealWear HMT-1® device will be connected to Wi-Fi.

 

Speech Keyboard:

  1. From any screen say MY CONTROLS > WIRELESS NETWORK > WIRELESS NETWORK SETTINGS.
  2. Select your Wi-Fi network.
  3. The secure entry keyboard will appear by default (so nearby people cannot hear you).
    • To use this method of securely entering your password, look left or right to highlight a character, then say “SELECT”.
    • If you wish to use the normal speech keyboard with a less secure password entry (nearby people can hear you), you can say “NORMAL ENTRY”.

Once your password has been entered correctly, your HMT-1® device will be connected to Wi-Fi.

 

How do I navigate to different views within this system?

The user interface is designed for “Say What You See” control. The interactive buttons labeled in all caps are the actual voice commands to open that view within the system.

 

What are some common voice navigation commands?

Just say…

“NAVIGATE HOME”

“MY PROGRAMS”

“MY CAMERA”

“MY FILES”

“MY CONTROLS”

“MUTE MICROPHONE”

“SHOW NOTIFICATIONS”

“RECENT APPLICATIONS”

“SHOW HELP”

“NAVIGATE BACK” will take you to the previous view.
